A contemporary take on a 1920's style, silent movie. ''What becomes...''' was written and directed by Irish artist Jonathan Murphy, edited by Andrew Kenny and scored by Leo Francis Staples. The story follows the tumult of emotion and inner struggle of a somewhat naive but kind hearted youth(played by actor James Freeney), brought about by heartbreak and the absence of hope. Along the way he meets a couple of characters that invariably have a part to play in the stories outcome. Limited scenery, deep shadows and evocative lighting enhance the overall mood of the film, while in parts it is told solely in silhouette form which strips the story down to the basic detail and delivers a visually intriguing experience. Released in 2018, ''What becomes...'' had it's premiere in the National Opera House as part of the ASK campaign's Christmas concert for which the film was written, to aid the cause of furthering awareness of their campaign for suicide prevention.
